About The Artist

I specialise in creating bright, vibrant pastel paintings, using intense colour, lighting and atmospheric effects, which enable me to transform simple subjects into the magical. I focus on Italian, Mediterranean and English themes, from landscape to more close-up studies of windows, doorways, floral and still-life subjects. I also enjoy working in pen and wash

Born in 1952, I come from a long line of artists and can trace my ancestry back to Richard Wilson, the well-known 18th century English “romantic” painter. I studied at the City of London Polytechnic and the Wimbledon School of Art before embarking on a career as freelance artist and illustrator.

In addition to book-jacket illustration, I have produced work for television, films and museums, and have painted murals for commercial companies, and more recently, as a Lecturer in Art and Design.

My first love, however, has always been landscape painting. Capturing the effects of lighting and atmosphere, enables me to turn simple objects into the magical, always with the intention to convey the very essence of the subject, rather than just merely state the obvious.

Work has been exhibited in various galleries in London and the South East.

About The Artist

I paint in a loose, impressionist style. I am influenced by artists like Ken Howard, John Singer-Sargent, Sorrella, the masters of Chiaroscuro, who emphasised light and dark tonal values almost to the detriment of colour.

Primarily, I am the pastor and teacher of a church in Woking, I have painted professionally for nearly 30 years, holding solo and joint exhibitions in the UK and across Europe. I regularly hold painting classes for students and I am often invited by various Art Societies to demonstrate, hold workshops and appraisals.

Recognition of my talent and ability date back to my early childhood, when Annigoni viewed my work and recommended to my parents that I should pursue my painting. At 12, I won a scholarship to junior art school.

Working in watercolour or oils, my choice of subject is wide-ranging and my faith inspires me. I paint what I see and feel – those things which exercise my mind and cause me to stop, look, think and imagine.

About The Artist

John Walsom is a Surrey artist who’s renowned for his paintings of architectural subjects. He has illustrated the buildings of some of the best-known companies and people in the world. He is represented in London by Burlington Paintings of Burlington Gardens, Mayfair.

John began in the 1970’s by selling his paintings of local scenes from the railings of the Bayswater Road in London. Most of these early works are now scattered around the world, from the Americas to Japan. In the 1980’s he worked at a much larger scale as a scenic artist, painting huge canvases and backdrops for live theatre.

Since 1990, John has specialised in painting architectural subjects, in oils, watercolour and acrylics. His success has been built on a sense of enjoyment and light in all his pictures and a thorough understanding of his subjects and his technique.

The demand for his work today, means that most of his time is filled with commissions for paintings and illustrations.

John has produced pictures for banks and property developers, magazines, advertising agencies, architects and designers.

His clients include: The Royal Bank of Scotland, The University of Cambridge, Historic Royal Palaces, Rolex Watch Co., Holmes Place, Land Securities, J Walter Thompson, McCann Erickson, Guardian Weekend Magazine, Berkeley Homes, Hammerson, Costain, Barratt, Building Design Partnership, Sheppard Robson, Chapman Taylor Partnership, Opera North and The Oxford University Press.

He has exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Show and has recently completed a commission to produce the painting for the 2009 “Oxford Almanack” – an annual publication of the Oxford University Press. Previously commissioned artists include JMW Turner, John Piper, David Gentleman and Sir Hugh Casson.

John lives in Thames Ditton, Surrey with his family and works from his studio in Kingston Upon Thames. When he’s not painting, he likes playing blues guitar, and/or drinking beer in the sun.

Architectural Portraits

Portraits of buildings, from private houses to modern office developments, can be commissioned in all sizes, from small watercolours to very large oil paintings. They can reflect pride in a new development, or affection for an old building.

The colours and design are inspirational, but the whole process is governed by a respect for the craft of painting. The finished paintings evoke the very specific atmosphere of each place, in the nature of a true portrait.

John Walsom wants his pictures to have a positive impact.

“I’ve always tried to paint pictures that people will want to look at for a long time, without getting bored. People are proud of their buildings. They love the way they look at certain times of day, in a certain season, and a reminder of that moment makes them happy. It’s all about capturing a moment in the life of a place.”

About The Artist

Contemporary & Visionary Spirit Artist, Designer, Craftswoman & Light Worker. BA Honours Fine Art Painting, Wimbledon School Of Art 2013

I am a creative artist who studies The Beyond.

The ethereal nature of shadows and light, unsolid matter, which is of anti gravity, that which is beyond all things physical, that which is vibration, finer energy and metaphysical.
This allows me to bring my spirituality into my art practices, where I also study Esoteric Science, the hidden depths in the psyche, that which is in the depth of soul, from a stream of higher consciousness.

My painting pratices embody colour and the living energetic vibrations of the cosmos, which I study using Rodolph Stiener’s theories on the “spirited ” in art practices and the inner meaning of colour. Translating what is ethereal into physical solid matter, what is ether! Art then becomes a living energetic vibration, an area of study in itself.

So I encompass the full spectrum of colour, outwardly through art practices and inwardly through esoteric spiritual studies, using different medias in photography, filming, performance art, costume, digital media, painting and drawing.

So all is ‘spirited’ in energetic resonance, as I use my perception from open mindedness, visions and receptivity of other ethereal dimensions.

This is a spiritual insight that goes beyond the boundaries of mark making in art, as I become the subject through meditative practices where I see with my inner minds eye, feeling the colours, observing the nature of subject, to be and connect with the subject in hand, to sense the vibrational etheric level through embodiment of esoteric science. This permitted me to develop various art projects in different medias.
