Pirates

‘T’he imagination of a child is a theme I always like to tackle. Often, I abandon it because I can’t think of a way to do such a wonderful theme justice. Here, where I took a much more literal approach, I was greatly challenged by what you don’t need in an image.

What can the painting get away with not having?
In its initial stages, I threw everything into this image to tell its story and gradually removed things until it had the bare essentials needed to support the narrative.’

About The Artist

Born in 1985, Will Rochfort grew up in Lymington on the south coast of England and, apart from his time studying Illustration and Fine Art at Kingston University, he has lived there all his life. Since graduating in 2008 his focus has been primarily oil painting.
will rochfort artist

Will’s main reason for becoming an artist is from a passion for creativity.

“There is rarely any strong meaning or message behind my work – narrative takes a large role because I like the work to be emotive through what is being portrayed, but creativity is the driving force behind all of my paintings”

From 2008 to 2010 Will Rochfort worked as an Official Artist for the 2012 London Olympics, working with Olympic Gold Medalists, producing paintings in support of the Games and its associated charities.

As well as completing several portrait commissions, Will Rochfort is always searching for new ideas for paintings and usually finds this in books or cinema. With influences ranging from Degas to Rockwell, to the films of Steven Spielberg, it is narrative that really interests Will and he always aims to have a story within his work.

“I am a very visual painter and with the public being my target audience over the art establishment, I always aim to depict scenes that, through the characters portrayed, I hope people can relate to and enjoy”

Boys

‘I find that the time of year often influences my subject matter. Painted during the summer of 2007, ‘Boys’ is a snapshot of many long summers that hopefully every boy can relate to.

It is a lot brighter than my other works and considering the boys posed for me on a cloudy day, I think the effect of sunshine worked out quite well.’

Children, Pet and Family Portraits – Commissions

I am a self taught artist based in Shamley Green, Surrey (between Guildford & Cranleigh).
Specialising in children, pet and family portraits, using pencil, charcoal and pastels, I love to capture character and life in my work.

I am able to create portraits from your photographs, tailor-made to suit your requirements.

Example: Portrait

In the gallery, you will find a small selection of recent and favourite work I have produced. A portrait is the perfect gift to celebrate a special occasion such as a birthday or anniversary.

Thank you for viewing my portraits and I hope that you enjoy them.

About The Artist

Based in Shamley Green, Heidi Meadows has started to produce some of the finest pastel, pencil and charcoal portraits of pets, children and adults. Her work is sensitive and her eye for detail allows her to create an excellent likeness.

Heidi recently drew a portrait of her sister’s son, Jonte. From seeing this, friends asked her to do portraits of their children and this led to portraits of their pets.

Heidi studied as a florist at the Welsh College of Horticulture and from there she went to London and worked as a freelance floral decorator for 10 years.

Since having children, that life has come to an end and now, with both children at school, she is working as a successful, full-time animal and portrait artist.
